| Fleermuisklip
and Vlermuisklip...all derived from a very
prominent yet tiny hillock just outside of
the original Lutzville village. Now
proclaimed a national monument it marked an
important stopover for early colonial travellers
into the hinterland soon after van Riebeecks
arrival at the Cape of Good Hope. They were
also the names of the local village before
finally being renamed to Lutzville many years
later.
The original Fleermuisklip brand
name evolved to Bat's Rock to accommodate
the phonetically challenged. Bat's
Rock is a respected brand genuinely steeped
in local history. The wines have earned a
number of national "best value"
awards, and are available in the United Kingdom
and South Africa.
